Why Do We Get Instant Energy From Glucose?

Glucose is a simple sugar that can be easily absorbed by the body. Unlike other foods such as carbohydrates, glucose does not need to be processed by the digestive system for energy. It is absorbed directly into the bloodstream and also into the cells. Upon entering, glucose undergoes oxidation, resulting in the release of ATP, a high-energy molecule that powers the cell.

Some people called glucose by another name – blood sugar. It is a monosaccharide(smallest carbohydrates), which means it contains a lot of sugar. Other monosaccharides are galactose, fructose and ribosome, It is a simple form of carbohydrate. You can get glucose from the food you eat and from the glucose powder available in the market, and you can get it from food, white bread, pasta, potato, honey, fruits, vegetables and dairy products.

Body can use sugar in 3 ways:

  1. Glucose :

It is the main source of energy for many cells in the body. After a carbohydrate is ingested, it is converted into glucose, which spreads to all tissues in the brain and blood. Carbohydrates other than fiber are converted into glucose.

2. Glycogen :

The body’s storage form of carbohydrates .It is made up of many glucose units connected to each other. The body can convert glucose into glycogen, which can be stored temporarily for future use as energy needs increase in the liver and skeletal muscles. The body can tap into glycogen stores if you go without food for a long time, or if your body needs more energy during workouts. When glycogen stores are depleted, the body becomes exhausted.

3. Fat :

When glycogen stores are at their maximum capacity, glycogen may be stored as body fat. Carbohydrates that are consumed in excess of what can be stored as glycogen are converted into body fat. However, carbohydrates alone do not increase body weight, and excess carbohydrates, like any other macronutrient, can be stored as body fat.
