  National Electronic Fund Transfer System(NEFT)

NEFT is a nationwide centralized payment system that is managed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It is a payment system. That allows individuals, firms, and corporates holding accounts with any member bank to transfer money electronically to any individual, firm, or corporate having an account with any other bank in the country.

NEFT is an online money transfer service offered by banks to their customers to transfer money between accounts. It has no limit for money transfers.

  Real-Time Gross Settlement(RTGS)

HDFC Bank RTGS is a system that allows funds transfer on a real-time or bulk basis. RTGS transfer is a real-time money transfer as if you had transferred money face to face, the money is instantly transferred to one’s account without delay.

To facilitate an RTGS transfer mode, the RTGS form of the bank from which the transaction is to be initiated needs to be filled. HDFC is one of the leading banks in the country. It has a relatively simple application form for RTGS transactions.

  HDFC NEFT/RTGS Fund Tranfer Offline

  Steps To Transfer Fund Through HDFC NEFT

Following are the steps for transferring the fund via HDFC NEFT to any other bank

  • First, you log in to the HDFC internet banking portal and sign
  •  Select the ‘Fund Transfer’ option
  •  Choose the ‘Add Beneficiary’ and also key in the type of beneficiary
  •  Select the ‘Transfer to other banks
  • Enter the details of the payee such as their name, account number, IFSC code, bank name, branch name. etc.
  •  Click ‘Confirm’ Beneficiary
  •  Now, the customer will receive a confirmation message

  Steps To Transfer Fund Through HDFC RTGS

  • Login with your Customer ID on the HDFC Bank Mobile app.
  •  Select the ; FUNDS Transfer option
  •  Under the ‘Transfer to another bank’ (RTGS) option, Click to Go.
  •  Select the Debit account, Beneficiary, and other details.
  •  Accept the Terms and Conditions and click to Continue
  •  Verify the entered details and click to continue
  •  Your Transaction is completed successfully.

  HDFC NEFT Timing via online and offline

To transfer NEFT money through HDFC Bank, you download and fill the above link as PDF, you can transfer money at the HDFC Bank branch from Monday to Saturday (except 2nd and 4th Saturday ) from 10 AM to 4:30 PM.

You can also make payments through HDFC Net Banking. The time to make an online payment is from 10 am to 6 pm

  Documents Required for HDFC NEFT/RTGS Form

Few documents are enough to make NEFT/RTGS payments in HDFC Bank. First, you have to download the HDFC NEFT/RTGS form PDF, fill it out, attach the below-mentioned documents and submit it to your nearest HDFC Bank branch. Note: PAN card is mandatory for transactions above Rs 50,000.

  HDFC NEFT Transaction Charges

HDFC Bank minimum and maximum NEFT limit is Rs.1 and Rs. 10 lakhs respectively. For this facility, charges apply for each transaction you make.

  • You do a transaction up to Rs.10,000 : Charge Rs.2.50 +  GST
  • up to Rs. 1 lakh                                        : Rs.5.00 + GST
  • Above Rs.1 lakh up to Rs. 2 lakh          : Rs.15.00 + GST
  • Above Rs.2 lakh                                        : Rs.25.00 + GST

  HDFC RTGS Transaction Charges

RTGS charges are not levied if transactions are done online. If you process RTGS offline from HDFC Bank branches, you will be charged Rs.15 plus applicable GST.

   Difference between NEFT and RTGS

  • NEFT stands for “National Electronic Fund Transfer”. RTGS stands for “Real Time Gross Settlement”.
  •  NEFT is a net settlement-based money transfer and RTGS is a real-time money transfer
  •  Settlement in NEFT is slow while RTGS transfer is fast.
  •  RTGS has a minimum transfer limit of up to 2 lakhs, but NEFT has no minimum transfer limit.
  • Monday to Saturday NEFT timings are 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM and RTGS timings are 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
  •  NEFT timings on Saturday are 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and RTGS timings are 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
  •  In RTGS credit happens in real time between banks while in NEFT credit happens in hourly batches between banks.
  •  NEFT is suitable for small money transfers whereas RTGS for large money transfers.
